Material
Primary Fabric Use medium weight knit fabric with about 50% horizontal stretch and good recovery, such as interlock, Ponte, cotton Lycra jersey and double-brushed poly.
Other Materials
- 1 yard or 1 meter of 3/8” or 1/2” (1 cm or 1.25 cm)-wide straight fusible stay tape (or you may cut your own using light-weight woven fusible interfacing on the straight grain)
- Two pieces of 2″ x 2″ (5 x 5 cm) lightweight knit or tricot fusible interfacing
Fabric Requirements
Most natural fibers shrink in the wash; be sure to have enough fabric. The requirements below assume that the fabric is already pre-shrunk.

How to choose your size

Determine if you should use the regular bust front pieces or the full-bust front pieces—subtract the circumference of your over bust from the circumference of the fullest part of your bust. If the rounded difference is 3″ (7.5 cm) or less, use regular bust; if it is more than 3" (7.5 cm), use full bust.

Compare your bust circumference (fullest part) to the “Body Measurements” table. Using the corresponding row for your bust (regular bust or full bust), choose the size that best fits your bust. If you are between sizes, choose the smaller size if you like your garment more fitted; otherwise, choose the bigger size.

Compare your hip circumference (widest part) to the “Body Measurements” table. Choose the size that fits your hip best. If you are between sizes, choose the smaller size if you like your garment more fitted; otherwise, choose the bigger size.

It’s OK to use different sizes for the bust, waist and hip. The instructions for blending sizes are included in the pattern.
- If you are taller or shorter than 5’6” (168 cm), you should consider lengthening or shortening the garment. The instructions for lengthening or shortening are included in the pattern.

I finished this pattern in a black patterned ponte. I adjusted three things. I shortened the sleeves to elbow length, and I replaced the neck band with a neck facing that I think made the neckline a little more polished. I also lengthened the dress by 2 inches, since it was a little too short for my preference. (I’m 5’8”)
This dress is a very flattering style. The ties make it look like you have a waist—even if you don’t. My husband really liked my final product. I’ll be making this again.

Love this dress. The pattern is not intuitive but the fantastic instructions ensure it’s a smooth sew. I made my usual ITS size and it fits pretty well; I need a further FBA, but I have NO idea how I would do that with this pattern!
If you like the look, I recommend it.

Easy to sew pattern! I would have given it 5 stars, except I wish I had made the belt narrower especially across the back for a more slimming look. Otherwise it was easy to put together and easy to alter for my exact measurements.

I purchased this particular pattern because I needed a dress for an upcoming charity gala event, and didnt want to wear a long dress~ This is absolutely perfect for this event as well as many other things going on ( fall wedding/ symphony tickets etc) This is to be my LBD, only I am sewing this up in a midnight navy which is a better color for me. As always, I can turn to Itch to Stitch to come through with exactly what I want. Lovely lovely, lovely,,, and classic classic classic! ( did I mention beautifully drafted!??)
I think the perfect shoes will be more difficult to find than the dress!
