Irena Knit Top is a cozy, casual top that you will want to wear all the time. It can be a fitted T-shirt if you use a jersey or interlock fabric, but it can be a sweater if you use a light-weight sweater knit. The wide, flat-bottom V front band reaches the base of your neck to keep you warm on cold days. Try using a contrast color on the neck band, sleeve bands and bottom band to give your individual style.

Irena Knit Top is designed to be worn with a cami, a shirt or other top inside. There is no modesty panel included; what you see in the photos are separate camis.

  • Long-sleeve, comfortable knit top as your Fall and Winter staple

Primary Fabric Use a light to medium-weight knit fabric with at least 50% 2-way or 4-way stretch and great recovery. Jersey, interlock, sweater knit and French terry are great choices. If you use fabric with less stretch, you may choose a larger size. Conversely, if you use fabric with more stretch, you may choose a smaller size.

  • Ball-point or stretch machine needles
  • Walking foot for your sewing machine (optional)
  • Serger machine (optional)

Fabric Requirements

Most natural fibers shrink in the wash; be sure to have enough fabric. The requirements below assume that the fabric is already pre-shrunk.

This is a beautiful pattern and everything I was looking for.

  2. Erica Wynter

Love this pattern, came out beautifully and was a breeze to sew. 1st time ever not having to adjust a pattern.

  3. gloria

Lovely pattern, fits well, instructions easy to follow. Will use pattern to make more.

  4. Vicky

I didn’t think I would like downloading the pattern and all the taping but I really didn’t mind. Being able to choose my specific size was a great help. I have already made the top and it went together really well. I will definitely shop again.

Great transitional layer. I have tried this style with several other pattern makers/companies. None explain and walk you through the neckline as well as this one. Kennis’ directions are meticulous. If you read carefully and take your time you will end up with a flat, pucker free neckline!

  6. Carol

    Love, love the collar!
