  1. Rosemary Jackson

I was a little nervous about the details of this beautiful top but the instructions are so comprehensive that it went together without a hitch. I am so pleased with this make! It goes together like magic. And the finished product is beyond my imagination! I made it out of Bamboo jersey. There will be more in my future!

Just finished this top and must say it is so much fun to make. The directions are so good you can’t miss on the one. If I knew how to add a picture of it, I would. I made my sleeves ¾ ones.

  3. Nelleke

A t-shirt with a little extra: that’s how I like them most! The scarf is such a beautiful and unique feature.

  4. Darlene

    Love this pattern! Easy style.

  5. Mary

Very pretty and so different from a plain knit top. I made the scarf out of contrasting fabric and it is really a smart-looking top. I followed the instructions carefully, which is a must cause it’s easy to get confused with this pattern.

  6. Christine

Love love love the unique and flattering style and was fairly straightforward to sew.
I did hand baste the neckline together first as it was a novel construction to make sure I was doing it right and I was. I made it out of a bamboo terry which resulted in nice drape across the neckline. I will make a second with a slightly thinner fabric for the upcoming warmer weather.

The Carmo top has a unique style yet is sewn from a knit fabric which makes it suitable for a wide variety of uses from more dressy to movie night casual depending on the fabric chosen. The piecing allows for some interesting color blocking. The sewing of the scarf and left shoulder along with the neckline is a little more involved. However, the directions are detailed and I feel an advanced beginner could successfully make this top.

  8. Diane

Carmo is such a pretty and unique top and the instructions are excellend, as usual!

This is a wonderful pattern. I have made it without the sleeves in a linen knit and it drapes beautifully. The sewing instructions were a bit text heavy and, English not being my primary language, was sometimes a bit diffucult to understand, but the notches/markings on the pattern pieces helped me to get the scarf placed correctly. I have plans for making more of this pattern to be ready for summer

Always love your patterns especially when I have to do an unusual construction technique as this pattern provides. Came out perfect!

Material

Primary Fabric Use light or medium-weight knit fabric with 20-30% horizontal stretch and good recovery (with elastane) such as jersey, sweater knit and French terry.

Neck Tape Use very light knit fabric with good recovery such as a very lightweight jersey, power mesh and nylon tricot . The neck tape is for finishing the left neckline. It is not supposed to be visible, but it may still peek out as you move. Therefore, it is best to use a coordinating color.

Other Material

  • 2 yards/meters of 1/2” or 3/8” (1.25 cm or 1 cm)-wide straight fusible stay tape (or you may cut your own using light-weight woven fusible interfacing on the straight grain)

Fabric Requirements

Most natural fibers shrink in the wash; be sure to have enough fabric. The requirements below assume that the fabric is already pre-shrunk.
